My name is Paul Robinson. I am the author of three books on the treatment of hypothyroidism: The Thyroid Patient’s Manual, Recovering with T3 and The CT3M Handbook. Together, the books now form the Recovering from Hypothyroidism series.  All the books are available through Amazon or other Internet booksellers.

I have made this YouTube video blog (more of a rant really) about the current suffering of thyroid patients.

This mess has been made worse in the UK through mismanagement by the NHS of the suppliers of Liothyronine to the UK. The cost has risen to a ridiculously high level. Liothyronine (T3) is not intrinsically expensive. Hence other companies in other countries can make a profit through producing and selling T3 at reasonable prices.

The other aspect I cover in this video is the mismanagement of thyroid treatment. I lay much of this at the door of the endocrinologists. It has not been helped by organisations like the Clinical Commission Groups (CCGs) in the UK, which are our local health authorities that manage funding.

I cover most of the content of this video in my latest book, The Thyroid Patient’s Manual (but I convey the information a lot more diplomatically in my book than I do in this video).

Here are some of the research papers that I have used in making the video:

“Time for a reassessment of the treatment of hypothyroidism”
See my blog post on this: https://paulrobinsonthyroid.com/time-for-a-reassessment-of-the-treatment-of-hypothyroidism-research/
– This paper discusses ‘amalgamation problems’ and ‘Simpson’s paradox’

“Lessons from Randomised Clinical Trials for Triiodothyronine Treatment of Hypothyroidism: Have They Achieved Their Objectives?”
Here’s my blog post link on this research article: https://paulrobinsonthyroid.com/lessons-from-randomised-clinical-trials-with-t4-t3-combination-treatment-research/
– Around 20 different improvements for future clinical trials have been suggested in this paper, including identifying sub-groups within the patients in the trial, so that the sub-group can be assessed later for correlation of treatment type and results.

Here is a blog post that contains links to the above papers and others that back up my video blog:

Here are some other blog posts that further discuss my views on the current mess that we are in:

I hope you enjoyed the video blog. I know it is not uplifting… but I believe in every word I said. It is where we are right now.
