Autoantibodies are produced by the body when the person’s immune system is attacking an organ. They are markers that this is occurring. For example, the Thyroid Peroxidase Autoantibody (TPOAb) usually present in high amounts in Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. TPOAb is often accompanied by the Thyroglobulin Autoantibody (TgAb)  in Hashimoto’s patients.
