Marama’s Story

Thyroid Treatment:
Circadian T3 Method, T3

I had 11 years of suffering but I have now fully recovered.

After 11 years of suffering finally, a Dr diagnosed me with hypothyroidism. I had low TSH and low FT3 but only just below the bottom of the range (mostly likely a pituitary issue).

I had been fine up until after the birth of my daughter. Aged 29 I came home after a fast, drug-free birth. On day three I was rushed back to the hospital. This happened twice and after that, I was never the same. Chronic fatigue, body aches, weak joints and the unbearable feeling over overwhelmed plagued me consonantly. I battled through trying everything modern medicine would through at me. Working and suffering were my new normal. Interestingly weight was not my main concern. I was already gluten-free, slim and very careful with my diet but there were so many other issues I suffered and some have been there since my youth when I look back.

Fast forward, diagnosis in hand I found an integrative Dr who prescribed whole thyroid treatment (pig thyroid or NDT). By this time I had joined 2-3 Facebook groups and seen Paul’s name a couple of times. The thought of taking my heart rate, blood pressure and symptoms seemed extreme to me.

However, after failing on the whole thyroid and my first attempt at T3-only I decided it was time to bite the bullet and buy the book – Recovering with T3. Five weeks later the book arrived but not before I had spent hours reading Paul’s articles on his blog and many posts and comments on his Facebook group. Having read the book cover to cover and Paul so kindly answering my questions online, I embarked on the T3-only journey again.

Tracking signs and symptoms this time was key. Finally, I could see what was really happening. I learned what my ideal heart rate was and how to monitor my dose correctly.

Finally, I felt normal once again.

It took me about 6 months to find the right dose. I take  3 divided doses with the first being a CT3M dose of 30 mcg.  The Circadian T3 Method (CT3M) is an optional part of Paul’s T3 protocol for those with low cortisol.

The CT3m dose was a game changer, as was introducing some testosterone into the supplement mix. The testosterone enabled me to reduce my overall T3 dose by 1/3 and gave me more energy and drive. Paul has been instrumental in my recovery and I couldn’t be more thankful to him.

I hope that my story helps someone else.
